Scone Varieties

Cranberry Orange: freshly grated orange zest, dried cranberries, this scone (our sweetest) is excellent on its own or with butter. It is also our most popular. (Round scones)

English Fruit/Currant: Traditional fruit scone you would find in England, these are our least sweet. They are excellent split in half and buttered (try lightly warmed!). In England you might be asked if you would like a "Cream Tea" which would include these scones split in half, butter (if you like), strawberry jam and clotted cream. (By the way, the Middlebury Natural Foods CoOP has been consistently selling clotted and double cream in its dairy cooler for the past several months!!!). (Round scones)

Maple Toffee: Not traditional to the U.K., but we love maple so much, why not a cross of two cultures. Triangular shaped and made with local Vermont maple syrup, these are so good on their own, they need no embellishment. (Toffee pieces do have ground almonds.)

Almond Cardamom: These are aromatically spiced with cardamom and crunchy with chopped almonds. Reminiscent of Scandinavia, these are excellent on their own or lightly warmed and split with butter. (Cardamom flavor is floral, lemony and lightly -- not spicy -- peppery.) (Triangular scones)

Oat and Raisin: Triangular scones with lots of rolled oats and raisins and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. They are good on their own, or split with butter.
