It's here! A short video that group of Green Mountain College students did about Radical Roots Farm! We were thrilled to help them with their college project - and equally as thrilled with the outcome. Thank you Elyse Carter, David Golembeck, Nate Bell and Tomer Kilchevsky!
We hope you all enjoy!

love this video. inspiring. carol, want to hear more about your challenges getting food to people who dont frequent farmers markets - probably the people who need it the most.
ReplyDeleteReally nice video. I'm sure you inspire folks regarding what is possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary and Tim. It was a blast to have the GMC students on our farm and visiting us at Farmers Market. They asked some great questions and certainly inspired us!
ReplyDeleteWe are always looking for ways to make sure our veggies are available to as many people as possible in the community. We are strong supporters and participants in the Grow A Row project, which collects and distributes farm fresh food to the food pantries and shelters around the community. We always donate a full farm share to the Community Cupboard, to provide a season's worth of veggies to at least one family. We provide veggies to our neighborhood corner store (we live in the NW section of Rutland City) to make sure our neighbors have access to reasonably priced fresh food. This coming season, we are working to provide fresh veggies to one of the discount food stores in our community, again hoping to increase access and affordability for members of the community. We are avid participants in the Farm to Family program at our Farmers Market.
It is always a challenge to make certain that food is available to all people in our community. As farmers we try to do our very small part. Our hope is to see more and more food produced locally, which will make more food available and hopefully affordable.
